acadon_mobile - Introduction
The app acadon_mobile
is a mobile app for Android devices, which can be used on MDE devices and smartphones. The App can scan by camera as well as through integrated scanners. This makes it possible to use almost any type of Android (from Android 8) capable devices. It doesn't matter whether it's a barcode or a QR code, the PackApp can do both. The MDE devices should support both.
acadon_mobile - Setup
Check of Hardware and Version
First of all, it should be checked whether the latest version of acadon_mobile
is being used.
The App can be installed on devices with an operating system from Android 8.
Theoretically, smartphones can also be used, but we recommend devices that can scan QR codes as well as barcodes in 2D. Scanning from a screen can also be be useful if, for example, not everything is printed out anymore.
All modules are included in acadon_mobile
. Although there is only this one app, only those modules for which the user has a corresponding authorization in the user management of BC can be viewed.
The latest version can be downloaded to your mobile device via the following link and then installed:
Packapp2
Note
After the user login, a line appears with the info App Version
. Here you can see the installed version.
An overview of the adjustments and additions in the individual releases for acadon_mobile can be viewed here: Changelogs acadon_mobile
The adjustments and additions in the acadon_MDE extension within Business Central can be seen here: Changelogs acadon_mobile
Starting the App and first setups
Clicking on the blue link leads to the app's setup screen. The connection to the server must be guaranteed for this. The configuration in the Network must also be correct. For example, SOAP must be specified with the correct port selection.
In the first tab "PackApp" the following features can be activated or deactivated:
- If your device does not have a hardware scanner, the
Scan via Camera
can be activated. - The activation of the
Multi-Company Function
makes it possible to switch to another client directly with each new login by means of a query. - Haptic feedback: If the functions 'Error message vibration' or 'Error message success' are activated, a vibration is generated by the MDE device depending on the setting when an error or success occurs (colored markings remain independent of this setting; red = error, green = successfully processed).
Save settings before leaving the tab and switch to the next page. In the second tab, the URL must be entered. The client will be determined later. Now the settings with "Save & Close" must be applied and a new login is required.
Windows authentication is not yet possible. Optionally, before the Logging on to the instance. It can be specified that the credentials are saved so that they do not have to be re-entered the next time they log in. This is recommended for MDE devices, which are only operated by one employee.
After successful registration, the new app version is displayed directly on the displayed page.
Client Setup
By clicking on the globe icon the list of tenants will appear. After selecting the correct client, it must be saved. Then you will be able to choose the tenants. Now a logout and re-login is required so that the correct configuration of BC is retrieved in the background. Now the module list should be loaded.
Setup in SaaS
If BC is used in a SaaS environment, the setup of the client must be as follows: First, the "Use OAuth" button must be activated in order to then open the "Azure Tenant" and to be able to enter the "Azure Environment". Save and then log out. This time, however, a new login in the app is not enough. The application must be closed completely. Simply closing it is not enough.
It is best to go to the settings and end the task. When restarted, all necessary data is reinitialized and the login is redirected to Microsoft. Everything after Microsoft login works as usual.
Setup in BC
In order to be able to make full use of the MDE devices with their modules, important setup has to be made in BC. On the one hand, the module "acadon_packaging.MDE" and on the other hand, the supporting setup for the MDE module must be installed once. The setup comes with a preset that revises step by step.
This wizard setup in BC determines, among other things, the number of attempts at processing of a data set, for which areas photo documentation is possible and whether in the case of unscanned goods, warnings, errors, or nothing should be issued. Another important setting that later affects the performance is the date filter, which indicates which documents are dragged into the list. For example, only goods issues of the last week are then displayed. Despite the filter list, by scanning the number records outside the filter.
At the end of the setup, be sure to initialize the setup to save the process. Of course, some of these settings can also be changed later, without the wizard. Via the acadon MDE setup, at least the user setups can be made. All users who can access the modules in the MDE devices must be activated.
Usefully, you can assign a profile to a user so that you don't have to give each user access to the modules individually. Nevertheless, you can see the last transmission as well as the Mobile app version number of each user in this list.
The profiles can be managed via "MDE Profiles" and determined by clicking on "Modules" for the acadon_mobile
.
After this setup has been completed, the user must log in to the MDE device again and finally has all modules listed to which the linked profile grants access.
acadon_mobile Modules
acadon_mobile
supports the following modules. The use of the modules is kept very simple thanks to profile management in Business Central. The profile management allows you to assign modules to different profiles. This means that it is possible for users to see in the App only the modules they need. So employees from the goods receipt only see the "goods receipt-related" modules and the employees at the goods shipment only see the "goods shipment-related" modules.
