3D Configurator Overview
The 3D Configurator enables the visualization and construction of packaging materials such as boxes and pallets in a three-dimensional space. Within the Bill of Materials Calculation Template, models can be flexibly adjusted using various measurements and parameters.
Note
The 3D visualization engine is part of the Timber base framework. This documentation covers the packaging-specific configuration aspects available in acadon packaging.
How to Open the 3D Configurator
- Choose the
icon, enter BOM Calc. Template, and then choose the related link. - Open the desired BOM Calculation Template card.
- Choose the 3D Configurator action to launch the 3D view.
General Settings
The fields in the General section define basic information for the 3D model.
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Code | The unique identification code for the object within the template. |
| Description | The primary name of the object. |
| Description 2 | An additional designation for the object. |
| Configurator Layout | Defines which configuration options are available for the object. |
| Calculation Type | Determines whether the total size refers to the outside dimension, inside dimension, or the packing good (content) dimension. |
Versioning
In the header area, the Create New Version action creates a new version of the object. The original version remains unchanged while adjustments can be made in the new version.
Component Lines
The line area contains the individual components of a 3D object. Each component represents a part of the object, such as a board, rail, or block.
Fields in the Line Area
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Row No. | The unique numbering of components in steps of 10,000, used for structuring and referencing. |
| Type | Indicates whether the component is an item or an item list. |
| No. | Selects the element from a list of components or materials. |
| Description | Defines the role of the component within the object. |
| Piece Calculation | Determines how many units of the component are created. This can be a fixed number or a formula. |
| Length Calculation | Specifies the length dimension of the component, either as a fixed value or using a calculation formula. |
| Width Calculation | Specifies the width dimension of the component, either as a fixed value or using a calculation formula. |
| Height Calculation | Specifies the height dimension of the component, either as a fixed value or using a calculation formula. |
| Component Type | Defines the side of the object on which the component is positioned. Available options include Bottom, Lid, Sides, Front, and Back. |
| Layer Index | Arranges the components in layers, counted from the outside inward. The smallest number represents the outermost layer. |
| Distribution | Indicates how the component is aligned on its assigned side: lengthwise or crosswise. |
Tip
Use variables instead of fixed values in calculation fields to allow components to adjust automatically when overall dimensions change. See Variables for details.
