Markings

Markings are visual indicators placed on a 3D object to highlight specific properties or handling instructions. They are used to communicate important information about the packaging, such as the center of gravity, stacking limits, or the prohibition of forklift use.

How to Add Markings

  1. Open the 3D Configurator for the desired BOM Calculation Template.
  2. Choose the Start Marker Editor action.
  3. Select the desired marking from the available properties.
  4. Position the marking on the appropriate side of the object.
  5. Adjust the size and rotation of the marking as needed.

Storing Marking Images

For markings to be displayed correctly in the 3D Configurator, the associated images must be stored directly in the property list.

  1. Choose the Search icon, enter Properties, and then choose the related link.
  2. Open the property that should be used as a marking.
  3. Upload the marking image to the property record.
Important

Uploading images for the 3D view within the configurator itself is not possible. Images must be uploaded through the property list.

One-Time Use Constraint

Each marking can only be used once within the 3D view of an object. This is because each marking is linked to a fixed position in the 3D space, creating a one-to-one relationship between the marking and its position within the object.

If the same visual indicator is needed at multiple positions, separate properties with the same image must be created.

Marking Positions

Marking positions define the available locations where markings can be placed on the object. These positions are managed in the Marking Position table with the following fields:

Field Description
Code The unique code identifying the marking position.
Description A description of where the marking is located on the object.

Marking Properties

The Marking table stores the actual marking assignments with these fields:

Field Description
Type The type of marking: Property, Free Text, or Marking Property.
Code The code referencing the marking definition.
Description A description of the marking.
Position The position on the object where the marking is placed.
Print Indicates whether the marking should be included when printing reports.
Tip

Define markings precisely and position them carefully to avoid misinterpretation of handling instructions.
