Production Texts

Production texts provide additional instructions and information for production staff beyond what is captured in the BOM and routing. These texts are attached to the BOM Calculation Template and flow through to the production order, where they can be viewed and, if needed, modified.

How to Create Standardized Production Texts

Standardized production texts are defined on the template and apply to every variant configured from that template.

  1. Choose the Search icon, enter BOM Calculation Template List, and then choose the related link.
  2. Open the BOM Calculation Template to edit.
  3. In the action bar, choose the Production Text action.
  4. The text editor opens. Choose the Edit button to enter edit mode.
  5. Enter the production instructions, formatting as needed using the editor controls.
  6. Choose the Accept button to save the text.
Note

Production texts can only be modified on draft versions (no version code). If you need to change texts on a versioned template, create a new version first.

How to Add Texts During Configuration

Production texts can also be added or customized when configuring a specific variant:

  1. Open the product configurator for a sales line or planning line.
  2. Navigate to the Production Text tab.
  3. Add or edit texts for individual component lines. These texts apply only to the specific variant being configured.

This approach is useful when certain production instructions are variant-specific and should not appear on every order.

How Texts Flow to Production Orders

When a production order is created from a configured variant, the production texts are transferred automatically. Production staff can view the texts directly on the production order. The texts can be overridden on the production order without affecting the original template texts.

Tip

Use standardized texts for instructions that apply to all variants of a template, and variant-specific texts for special handling requirements.
