Transit Locations
Transit locations are special locations in Business Central used to manage the transport and distribution of goods between different locations. Goods in transit are tracked separately from regular inventory.
How to Set Up a Transit Location
- Choose the
icon, enter Locations, and then choose the related link. - Create a new location with a unique code and name.
- Enable the Use As In-Transit option on the location card.
Using Transit Locations
Transit locations track goods that are moving between locations. Typical use cases include:
- Transfers - Tracking goods during transport between two warehouse locations
- Distribution - Managing goods being distributed to different sites or customers
- Temporary storage - Temporarily holding goods awaiting shipment or processing

Transit locations are used in combination with packaging transfer orders. Configure the packaging transfer order number series in the Packaging Setup page.
