Warehouse Structure Definitions

Business Central uses a hierarchical warehouse structure to organize storage. Understanding these concepts is essential for setting up an efficient packaging warehouse.

Structure Overview

The warehouse in Business Central is organized into the following levels:

  • Locations - Physical sites where goods are stored. Each location can contain multiple zones and bins.
  • Zones - Specific areas within a location used to organize warehouse activities (e.g., receiving, storage, shipping).
  • Bins - The smallest units in the warehouse structure, representing exact positions within a zone where goods are stored.

Zones

Zones organize areas within a location by function:

  • Receiving Zone - Area for incoming goods inspection and put-away
