Warehouse Setup

The packaging solution extends the standard Business Central location card with additional fields for packaging-specific warehouse operations. These fields define default bin codes for packing orders, container orders, and packing materials.

How to Set Up a Warehouse Location for Packaging

  1. Choose the Search icon, enter Locations, and then choose the related link.
  2. Open the location card for the desired location.
  3. On the Bins FastTab, configure the packaging-specific fields.

Packaging Fields on the Location Card

Field Description
Default Bin Code Specifies the default bin code when an item is used. Does not overwrite existing standard bin content. Only available when Bin Mandatory is enabled.
Container Order Default Bin Code Specifies the default bin code applied when validating a location code on a container order.
Packing Material Bin Code Specifies the default bin code for packing materials. Only available when Bin Mandatory is enabled.
Packing Order Default Bin Code Specifies the default bin code for packing order lines.
Customer Packaging Location Marks the location as a customer packaging location. Requires all warehouse handling options to be disabled.
Note

A default location can be set in the Company Information page.

Tip

When Bin Mandatory is enabled on a location, the packaging-specific bin code fields become available. Disabling Bin Mandatory will clear the Default Bin Code.
