Usage in Variants
The Used in Variants action on the BOM Calculation Template Card provides an overview of where each template version is actively used. This is essential for impact analysis before modifying or deleting template versions.
How to View Template Usage
- Choose the
icon, enter BOM Calculation Template, and then choose the related link. - Open the template card for the template you want to analyze.
- Choose the Used in Variants action.
- The BOM Calculation Template Variant List page opens.
Understanding the Variant List
The page is divided into two areas:
- Upper list: Displays all versions of the BOM Calculation Template, including the current working version and all saved versions. Each row shows the Version Code, Description, Calculation Type, and the No. of Variants that use this version.
- Lower list: When you select a version in the upper list, the lower area shows all item variants that were configured using that specific version. This includes details such as Item No., Code, Description, and the inside dimensions of each variant.
Tip
Always check the usage list before modifying an active template version. If variants exist that use a version, changes to the template may affect future recalculations for those variants.
Use Cases
- Impact analysis: Before changing template expressions or lines, check how many variants depend on the current version.
- Version comparison: Review which versions are still in use and which can be safely archived.
- Variant lookup: Quickly find all item variants that were generated from a specific template.
