acadon Module Management
What is the purpose of the packaging module extensions in Module Management?
Work processes can be simplified and optimized with the help of various functional extensions for the Packaging app.
Which modules are available and how can they be activated?
Currently, 15 functions can be activated specifically for the Packaging extension. We are updating this list regularly to have always a current overview of all available options:
Free Packing Lines- This feature allows you to improve your packaging workflow by enabling the creating of Packing Order with free lines, which only contain materials and services, without requiring a physical package.
- Set up Free Packing Templates to obtain reusable templates with predefined materials and services.
- Mark resources as free packing resources and assign them to templates.
- Packaging Orders can be created and billed as usual. The system automatically handles Free Packing Lines for corresponding resources in the associated Sales Orders.
Measurement Order- By activating this module, measurement orders and the measurement location become visible.
- Hazardous goods can also be added to the measurement order lines.
Extended Production Planning:- The Extended Production Planning function provides more flexibility within the work center planning.
- In addition, the work center planning can be used without a date filter by activating the Allow Empty Date Filter function. This function is located in the Packaging Setup within the group Production Planning.
- In the work center planning table, a new column can be displayed via Personalize (top right via the gear wheel) → + Field → Original Due Date . This displays the due date of the source document in the table overview
- If there is a conflict with the linked Production Order, the line is marked red and a warning can be called up via the affected line.
- Depending on which work center filters are set, the warnings may only be displayed after a short period of time.
Customer Items:- This function allows customer items to be used in Packaging.
- Within the Packaging Setup , the default unit of measurement for customer items can be defined via a setup field. This means that the unit of measurement field is automatically filled with the default setting for all customer items as soon as the customer item is created.
- The labeling of reference fields of customers articles can also be adjusted in the Packaging Setup .
- Customer items have a separate label, which can be selected and printed via the Packaging Warehouse Shipment, the Packaging Warehouse Shipment Lines, the Customer Card and the Customer Item List .
Packaging Projects:- The active feature allows the user to work with packaging projects .
- If this function is activated, all objects with a reference to the Packaging Projects packaging feature are queried for the activation status of the feature.
- If the feature is deactivated, the user can neither see nor work with packaging projects.
- The prioritization of the default dimensions made for sales applies to the dimensions in packaging projects. If no prioritization has been made, the dimension that is inserted first takes precedence.
- Assembly orders can be used with packaging projects. When an assembly order is posted, the costs of all lines are recorded as actual costs in the projects. When canceling a posted assembly order, the associated items are canceled. No expected costs are posted. These must then be added either via the respective sales order or manually.
Packing Good Quantities:- Using the Packing Good Quantities function, the contents quantities can be maintained in the Packing Good information fields.
Storage Fee Posting Setup:- You can choose to use the Storage Fee Posting Setup instead of the Packaging Setup field for the storage fee account .
Colli Planning Selection:- With the Colli Planning Selection feature enabled, you're able to decide if you'd like to accept only specifically selected lines while accepting the Colli Planning.
Phys. Inventory Order:- Activating this function enables the status of Packing Goods, Container or Packing Materials to no longer be required to be set to available or packed in order to create an inventory order.
Undo Colli and Container Planning:- The active feature can be used to undo Sales Colli Planning Lines.
- On the Sales Colli Planning Lines page, the function is executed using the Undo Planning Line button.
- Please note that the Colli Planning Lines are reset differently - depending on the status of the packing material used.
- If the Package is planned and there is no open Packing Order , the Colli Planning Line is reset, the Package is closed and the associated Parcel No. Information is deleted.
- If there is an open Packing Order for the planned Package, the line for the Package is deleted. If this was the only line in the Packing Order, the order will be deleted.
- If the Package is already available, the Colli Planning is reset and the link between production and Sales Order is removed. The Package can still be used for other processes.
- If the Package is already packed and a Posted Packing Order exists, the Colli Planning Line is reset and the link between production and Sales Order is removed. The Posted Packing Order is canceled if only the Package from the Colli Planning Line was used in the Packing Order. Otherwise, a partial cancellation for the Package will be done. The Package can then be used again.
- If a Package is partially packed, closed or shipped, the Colli Planning Line cannot be reset.
- In each case, the Sales Line Massline is also deleted from the Sales Order . If the deleted Massline is the only Massline of a Sales Line, the Sales Line is deleted. If the Sales Order was released and the only Sales Line was deleted, the Sales Order is set to status Open . Otherwise it is set to status Released again. If the Sales Order is in a status other than Open or Released , it is also not possible to reset the Colli Planning Line, as other release processes have already been triggered and the Sales Order may not be changed during this time.
Combine Colli Planning Variant:- When activated, Colli Planning Lines will combine per Variant Code , creating one Sales Line and then one Massline per Colli Planning Line.
- Only Variants for which no Production Order exists are combined.
Packaging Template:- This activates the possibility to use Packaging Templates within the Colli Planning. The configurator can be accessed from a Packaging template .
- Packing Goods subtypes can be selected in the lines of the Packaging templates.
- They work in exactly the same way as the Packing Good templates; when a Packaging template is applied, the Packing Goods with the same combination of Packing Good type and subtype are selected from the Packing Goods to Plan -fact box.
- In the Packaging template, the packaging configurator can be executed for all items that have been declared as Packing Material Items . A configured item is no longer required.
Packing Order Registers:- This module allows the partial posting of Packing Contents and services. It also allows you to define in the packing order header, whether packaging takes place on site or at a customer's premises.
- Customer packaging can be divided into "packing material remains with the customer", "is taken for storage" or "is taken for further processing" .
- For customer packaging, the packaging location in the packaging order must be a customer packaging storage location.
- To define a customer packaging location, we recommend that a new storage location is specifically created for this process. To do this, activate the Customer Packaging Location function on the Location Card under the General tab and deactivate the Require Receive option under the Warehouse tab.
- You can define as many customer packaging storage locations as needed.
- Using the Create stock transfer order action, stock transfer orders can be created from the current storage location to the customer packaging storage location.
- The partial postings are recorded in the Posted Packing Order register document.
- If a Packing Order line is completely posted, the system creates a posted Packing Order.
Packing Good Subtype Planning:- This module allows the Packing Good Subtypes to be available for use within the Colli Planning. These are completed later on in the Packing Order .
- This will create the new Planning Type -field to appear in the Sales Colli Planning Header. The default value is Packing Good .
- If the Planning Type to Packing Good Type , the Packing Good Subtypes to plan will be shown instead of the Packing Good factbox .
- Here, the Packing Goods are displayed based on their types and subtypes, rather than the Packing Good numbers.
- The Packing Good Type and Packing Good Subtype are set up on the Packing Good Card.
- In the Assign Content process within the Colli Planning, this function eliminates the need to assign specific Packaging Good numbers. Instead, the packaging goods are identified based on their type and sub-type.
- If a packaged item does not have a type/subtype, it can be assigned directly using the Packaged Good number .
- If a packaging order is created further in the process, the new Packing Good Type is visible in the Packing contents with an empty number.
- Here, a Packing Good item can be selected from the Packing Good item list. The Packing Goods are filtered according to the type and subtype selected in the planning.
Container Selection:- The Container Selection module allows users to selectively choose containers when creating a Packaging Shipment from orders with multiple containers.
- Through a Container Selection Assistant, users can define which containers should be included in the shipment, including containers without stock.
- In scenarios with only one container, it is automatically included if it already has the status Available or Packed.
- If the container has the status Expected, a confirmation dialog appears asking whether it should be included.
- In scenarios with multiple containers, the Container Selection Assistant opens automatically and displays all containers from the Container Planning.
- Users can select any number of containers, which are then automatically added to the Shipment Lines.
- The Stock Validation takes place during the posting process. The system verifies that sufficient stock is available for each shipment line.
- If the stock is insufficient, the message “Insufficient stock for [Type] [No.]” is displayed.
- The Container Selection module can be enabled or disabled in the Module Management. No additional setup is required.
