Disposition Planning

The timber disposition planning assists you in centrally planning and picking sales orders based on delivery date and time.

In principle, every outgoing and incoming document (sales orders, purchase orders, sales and purchase return orders, transfer orders) that is handled in your warehouse can be planned via the disposition planning. Drop shipments do not appear in the disposition planning, but special orders do.

Setup of disposition planning

Before starting with the disposition planning, various setups have to be made. These setups are global, they only have to be set up once and apply to all users.

Wood setup

  1. Choose the Search, enter Wood Setup, and then choose the related link.
  2. On the Wood Setup page, on the General FastTab, select the Shipment Method Code Duty and Requested Date Duty check boxes.
Note

If these fields are activated, the system checks these two fields before releasing the sales orders for MRP. These fields are important planning fields in the disposition.

  1. On the Notifications FastTab, select the Check Item Available on Rel. and Check Deadline check boxes.
Note

These fields are recommended for setup. If these fields are disabled, it is still possible to work with the disposition planning. When the Check Item Available on Rel. check box is selected, the item's inventory is checked. If the inventory is not sufficient, the sales order will not be released. If the field is disabled, the sale of out-of-stock items and the posting of negative inventory are possible. Activation of the Check Deadline field is required, among other things, when working with promotional items.

Disposition Planning Code

The Disposition Planning Code is needed for the creation of the disposition.

  1. Choose the Search, enter Disposition Planning Code, and then choose the related link.
  2. On the Disposition Planning Code page, add new entries or adjust the existing lines. The most important fields are:
    • Planning Period From Calculation: Choose the drop-down arrow to define the planning period. Options are: Default, first day of the week, date formula.
    • Planning Period From Formula: Define a date formula from which the calculation should start. If the field is empty, the work date is used.
    • Planning Period Until: Define a date formula until the calculation should be run.
    • Planning Period not editable in Calculation: Specifies if the from and to date can be changed in the calculation.
    • Extended Planning: Defines if information is taken from the document header or line.
    • Change Color After Print: Enables different color marking on the bill of parcels to distinguish individual disposition planning codes after printing.
    • Location Filter Text: A direct entry into the field is not possible. Choose the Location Codes action, and then select the drop-down arrow to choose the relevant location.
    Note

The location can only be assigned once per code. Multiple entries can be added like this: locationA|locationB.

Shipment Methods

  1. Choose the Search, enter Shipment Methods, and then choose the related link.
  2. On the Shipment Methods page, select the appropriate shipment method and select the Relevant for Tour (Shipment) and Relevant for Tour (Receipt) check boxes, if you want use this shipment method for disposition planning.
Note

If a shipment method is not defined with this characteristic, documents with this shipment method are not considered in the disposition planning.

Important

It is not recommended to activate the Next Delivery field for each shipment method. This field is used for small quantity deliveries and is also used to group small orders together. If this field is activated, a query about all shipment methods will be made when releasing and posting sales orders, which must be confirmed or rejected.
