Set up Copy description to sales
A related Production Order can be created from a Sales document. The related Production Order can be for a so called sundry item or a regular inventory item. In the case of a sundry item the description of how the product is manufactured and which components are used is normally a manual effort.
With Copy description to sales the user doesn’t have to enter the sales comment lines manually with the manufacturing details. With a simple action in the Production Worksheet the information from the production order routing group and the production order components is transferred to the sales line comment lines.
To use Copy description to sales, start by setting it up as follows.
Set up when the information should be copied to the Sales document
The first part of setting up Copy Description To Sales is in the user setup.
- Choose the
icon, enter User Setup, and then choose the related link. - Select the relevant user, and then choose the Production Settings action in the top menu.
- On the Production Settings page that opens, find the Copy Descr. to Sales Method field and select when the information should be transferred:
- Automatically - When closing the Production Worksheet, the information is transferred automatically.
- Manually (default) - The Insert Description in Sales Comment Lines action on the Prod. Worksheet Routing Group FastTab in the Production Worksheet needs to be selected manually.
- Confirmation Dialog - When closing the Production Worksheet, a confirmation dialog will be presented where the user can select to copy the descriptions.
Set up which descriptions are transferred by default
The second part of the setup is done on the Standard Task. Here you can define which descriptions are transferred by default.
- Choose the
icon, enter Standard Tasks, and then choose the related link. - Select the relevant Standard Task, and click on Card under Related Information in the top menu.
- On the General FastTab of the Standard Task Card that opens, activate the Copy Description to Sales field.
With this field activated, the Description from the Production Order Routing Group is copied to the Sales comment lines when this Standard Task is selected in the Production Order Routing Group.
Set up if the description should be copied per component
The third part of the setup is done on the Item Card.
- Choose the
icon, enter Items, and then choose the related link. - Open the relevant Item.
- On the Replenishment FastTab activate the Copy Component Description to Sales field. This applies only for Items that are used as Components in the Production Order.
Note
The setting on the Item Card will only have an effect if there is a Prod. Order Routing Group with the Copy Description to Sales flag activated.
