Copy description to sales

A related Production Order can be created from a Sales document. The related Production Order can be for a so called sundry item or a regular inventory item. In the case of a sundry item the description of how the product is manufactured and which components are used is normally a manual effort.

With Copy description to sales the user doesn’t have to enter the sales comment lines manually with the manufacturing details. With a simple action in the Production Worksheet the information from the production order routing group and the production order components is transferred to the sales line comment lines.

After setting up which information needs to be copied, follow these steps to copy production descriptions to sales documents.

Create a Sales Order with a connected Production Order and copy the description

This part describes how to copy the description from the Production Order to the Sales Order.

  1. Choose the Search icon, enter Sales Order, and then choose the related link.
  2. Create a new Sales Order with one or multiple lines.
  3. In the menu of the Lines FastTab, click on Create Prod. Order under Production to create a Production Order for the Sales Order Line(s).
  4. A notification appears indicating that the Production Order has been created. Click Open Production Worksheet in the notification to open the Production Worksheet from the Production Order you just created.
  5. Add a Standard Task to the Production Worksheet Routing Group, that has the Copy Description to Sales flag activated.
  6. Add an Item as a Component to the Production Worksheet that has the Copy Description to Sales flag activated.
Note

If no Prod. Order Routing Group has the Copy Description to Sales flag activated, the Copy Description to Sales action will not be executed for the Components.

  1. Depending on the option selected in the User Setup, the information from the Production Worksheet is copied to the Sales Order Line Comment Lines:
    • Automatically when closing the Production Worksheet,
    • By choosing Yes in the confirmation dialog that opens when closing the Production Worksheet,
    • Or by clicking Insert Description in Sales Comment Lines in the menu of the Prod. Worksheet Routing Group FastTab in the Production Worksheet.
