Set up Reason Codes for Item Journals
In Business Central there are several journals related to items, for example the Item Journal. When you post a journal, you can add a Reason Code Comment to the journal line. This can be useful for tracking the reason for the journal line. For example, if you are posting a journal line to adjust the quantity of an item, you can add a Reason Code Comment to explain why the adjustment was made. The Reason Code and the related comments are then transfered to the Item Ledger Entries and in case of parcels, additionally to the Parcel No.- Information comments.
To start working with Reason Code Comments, set up Reason Codes for Item Journal Templates and Batches as follows.
Set up Reason Codes for Item Journals
Select the
icon, enter Item Journal Templates, and then choose the related link.Click on Edit List in the top menu.
If applicable, select a default Reason Code per Template.
Click on Batches in the top menu to open the Item Journal Batches page.
If applicable, select a default Reason Code per Batch.
Select the Reason Code Mandatory checkbox to make sure that there are no postings possible without entering a Reason Code in the Item Journal Line.
