Pick up tradeable packaging items in mobile client

The OnRoute mobile client allows drivers to record the pick-up of tradeable packaging items (such as reusable containers, pallets, or crates) during deliveries. This functionality helps track returnable packaging materials and ensures accurate inventory management. When tradeable packaging items are picked up, Business Central automatically creates a sales return order for the collected items and adds it to the route allocation.

Prerequisites

Before you can pick up tradeable packaging items in the mobile client, you need to set up tradeable packaging items in timber. To activate and configure tradeable packaging items, follow the steps mentioned here.

Pick up tradeable packaging items

To pick up tradeable packaging items during a delivery, follow these steps:

  1. Open the delivery document in the mobile client by scanning the QR code or accessing it from your Driver View.
  2. Navigate to the delivery you want to process.
  3. In the delivery processing screen, you will see a Tradeable Packaging Items section if tradeable packaging items are associated with the delivery.
  4. The tradeable packaging items section displays:
    • Picked Up Qty.: The quantity of items being picked up (adjustable by the driver)
    • Outs. Qty.: The outstanding quantity of items that can be picked up
    • No.: The item number
    • Variant: The item variant code (if applicable)
    • Description: The item description
  5. To record a pick-up, use the + and - buttons to adjust the picked-up quantity for each item, or enter the quantity directly in the input field.
  6. When you confirm the delivery, the picked-up tradeable packaging items are transferred back to Business Central together with the delivery information. The information is synchronized to Business Central (this can take up to 10 minutes, depending on the job queue entry schedule) where a sales return order is automatically created and added to the route allocation.
